Bathroom Sink Repair
You use your bathroom sink every day. So, it’s not surprising that sometimes you need bathroom sink repair. Common sink repairs include leaky drains and damage to the ceramic or porcelain. Although bathroom sink problems are annoying, they are easily fixable when you know what to do. From water pipe relocation to basic leak repair, we have solutions.
Leaky drains are the easiest repair. First, though, you have to figure out where the leak is coming from. The leak may be coming from the seal or somewhere in the P-trap. Each of these leaks requires a different approach. So, to find the exact location of the leak, grab a bucket and place it under the sink to catch water. Turn on the water and visually inspect where the leak is coming from. Sometimes, tightening the couplings, cleaning the pipe threads, or replacing the gasket will take care of the problem. All you need is a basin wrench and a little elbow grease to make these quick repairs. If you clean the pipe threads, make sure to add new putty to complete the seal.

Another reason why your sink may leak is that it needs sink stopper repair or replacement. Before you go out and buy a new stopper, try cleaning the existing one. Use vinegar or another natural cleaning solution to clean the pivot rod and vertical clevis. While these items are soaking in the cleaning solution, check the stopper to inspect it for signs of damage. Often, rubber seals breakdown and need replacement. If the stopper looks good, put it in the cleaning solution and let it soak with the other parts.
Do you have a chipped bathroom sink? If you want to restore your sink’s beauty, use sandpaper to gently smooth out the chip or crack. Take special care not to scratch the ceramic or porcelain around the damaged area. Once the chip is smooth, use a repair compound or silicone filler and fill the area. Let the area dry per manufacturer instructions and then gently sand down the compound so that it is flush with the rest of the sink. Head to the home improvement store to find touch-up paint that matches your sink to complete the job.
