Water Heater Maintenance
At Wise Choice Plumbing & Rooter, we don’t believe in expensive water heater maintenance. Our maintenance involves using easy and affordable tips to increase the operating efficiency and longevity of the appliance. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about unexpected water heater replacement. While some maintenance and repair practices like adding insulation and setting the temperature require minimal effort, we recommend checking the anode and flushing the tank each year for maximum protection.
There are various benefits of taking care of your water heater including:
- Reduced heat loss and water heating expenses
- Improved efficiency and longevity of the water heater, and
- Prevention of rust builds up inside the water heater.
At Wise Choice Plumbing, we have several ways for homeowners to take care of their water heaters to reduce repair costs and improve efficiency. Check out these six tips to help you achieve these goals.
Water Heater Repair for the TPR Valve
Shut off the power as well as the cold water supply valve. Next, find the temperature release valve (TPR), usually located on the top or side of the tank. The TPR valve is designed to open when the pressure in the tank becomes too high. Therefore, lift the tab of the TPR valve to let some water out and then let go to see if the water will keep flowing. If the water keeps flowing, you need a new valve. Call a licensed plumber for water heater repair.
Schedule an Appointment with a Plumber
Occasionally, you need to clean the tank and wash out sediment buildup. We recommend calling a licensed plumber to help you to ensure correct service and circumvent unexpected problems.
Insulate Pipes to Avoid Pipe Repair
Call Wise Choice Plumbing for insulation services. Insulating the water pipes prevents frozen pipes and protects plumbing from expensive pipe repair. Our licensed plumbers help you determine which pipes benefit from insulation.
